Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (EFE) General State Budgets, in that it must take into account the high price increase that has occurred.
The CC candidate for president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, together with the head of the Parliamentary list for Gran Canaria, Pablo Rodríguez, has transferred his party’s proposal to reduce the subscription period to the Canary Islands Industrial Association (Asinca), whose The president, Raúl García, has expressed his concern about the “slow pace” of these compensations and because they still do not know the amount they will receive in 2022.
Speaking to journalists, before starting the meeting between CC leaders and Asinca, García stressed that “if there is a price increase, it must be included in the compensation for operators.”
Clavijo has regretted that the negotiations for the compensation of transport, which are paid in arrears, do not start from January 1 and he fears that they will be postponed until after the elections, which, in his opinion, is due to the ” abandonment of the State Government and the collusion of the Canarian Executive”, which does not help to resolve this situation either.
“Doing industry in the Canary Islands is already difficult due to the remote conditions and the fragmentation of the Canary Islands territory”, stressed the candidate for president of the regional Government of CC, who recalled and regretted that there have been years in which compensation for the transport of goods It has not reached 70% of what was advanced by the Canarian industrialists, as well as that “all this is transferred to prices and to the shopping cart”.
Clavijo has also emphasized other issues that concern his party, such as the “insecurity” generated by the Economic and Fiscal Regime of the Canary Islands, due to the different interpretations that are made of it and that prevent investments from being made in the islands.
In addition, he has indicated that CC will defend the inclusion of a bonus for the transport of waste between islands to favor the installation of a recycling industry in only one of them.
He has also conveyed his concern for tax harmonization, not only because of the desire to apply a minimum of 15% in corporate tax, but also because the PSOE in its electoral program proposes that taxation be the same throughout the national territory.
From CC, a position of continuous defense of the Outermost Regions will also be maintained in view of the intention of creating a new status for the European islands, which are 2,400 inhabited in the EU, and which may endanger the special conditions of the nine ORs, including the Canary Islands, to compensate for their distance, Clavijo has indicated
In his opinion, it cannot be “taken for granted that we are going to keep what we have”, so it is necessary to have a defensive attitude at all times, something that is missing in the current Government, when, in addition, in the Canary Islands it has produced a loss of GDP per capita, which has dropped from 84% to 75% in four years, he has warned.
