Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura) (EFE) Dreamland” on the island, after the developer company has announced its location in Gran Canaria.
At a press conference, Acosta responded to information from the promoter of the project, the Newport Group, which now plans to build the city of cinema in the municipality of Telde in Gran Canaria, on 100,000 square meter land owned by Lopesan.
The leader of the Majorero PSOE has assured that he respects the decision of the promoters, but has stressed that “it is a decisive project for Fuerteventura” in which he considers that “continue working so that it stays on the island” and with the fewer environmental consequences.
The city of cinema in Fuerteventura ran into the rejection of environmental groups, most political parties and a large part of the citizenry, for the chosen location: next to the Natural Park of the Dunes of Corralejo.
Even so, the plenary session of the Cabildo approved in November the declaration of insular interest of the project with the support of the socialist councilors, of the Municipal Assemblies of Fuerteventura and Andrés Briansó of Podemos.
Acosta has criticized the attitude against the project on the part of the political formations of Fuerteventura, very different from that of his fellow party members in Gran Canaria who are celebrating the arrival of Dreamland.
While the Canarian Coalition in Fuerteventura rejects the project, his colleagues in Gran Canaria describe it as “fabulous and an opportunity for employment”, he has criticized.
Acosta has also wondered if the president of Nueva Canarias is now speaking of a “hit”, when he referred to that in Fuerteventura.
“There has not been any reproach from another party or mine to the location nor has there been a declaration that it should go in an industrial zone as was said, when it was planned in Fuerteventura, in parliamentary headquarters or to relocate on developable land”, has remembered.
And he added that “there is no room for demagogy neither from my party nor from other parties where it is not here and on other islands.”
Blas Acosta once again referred to Dreamland as a project that “generates employment, is beneficial for the island and for which we must continue to fight” and has insisted that “the Socialist Party is clearly committed to Dreamland and with the least possible environmental consequences” .
Likewise, he has denounced the campaign of lies that, according to him, have been spread about the business initiative and has recalled that it is not a project on a dune nor would its location be in a protected natural area.
In addition, he believes that Dreamland could be made a complementary project distributed among the islands of Gran Canaria Fuerteventura.
For this reason, he has asked the president of the Cabildo Majorero, Sergio Lloret (AMF), to “get his act together” because since February 13, when the deadline for allegations closed, there is still “no report so that technically and legally they can tell us if in any of the location alternatives could be installed this project”.
Finally, he has insisted that many citizens of Fuerteventura are “convinced” that it is “a diversifying project and generator of qualified employment”. EFE
