Zaragoza (EFE).- The number of unemployed registered in March in Aragon at the offices of the Public Employment Service has decreased by 1,005 people, 1.72% less than in February, which places the total number of unemployed at 57,285.
And the number of Social Security affiliates increased in Aragon in March by 4,305 people compared to the previous month, 0.73 percent, to add 594,918 contributors.
According to the data published by the Ministry of Employment and Social Security this Tuesday, compared to the month of March 2022, unemployment has fallen by 8.05% and by 5,018 people, while Aragon registered a growth in the number of affiliates of 9,756 compared to to March 2022, which represents a rise of 1.67%.
Descent in the three provinces
By provinces, unemployment fell in the three Aragonese provinces in March compared to the previous month and more in absolute terms in Zaragoza, with 664 fewer unemployed, 1.46%, to situate the number of unemployed at 44,755. In Teruel there have been 177 fewer unemployed, 3.47% less and up to 4,931, and in Huesca 164 people, 2.11% less and up to 7,599 unemployed.
Compared to March of the previous year, unemployment has also fallen in the three provinces, by 4,231 people in Zaragoza (8.64%), by 531 in Huesca (6.53% less) and by 256 in Teruel (4. 94% less).
Of the 57,285 unemployed registered in the employment offices at the end of March, 35,217 are women and 22,068 men.
By age, 5,043 unemployed are under 25 years of age (2,622 men and 2,421 women) and 52,242 over that age (32,796 women and 19,446 men).
In Aragon in March unemployment rose among those who did not have a previous job, by 125 people, and in the construction sector, by 23, while it fell in the rest: by 1,030 people in services, by 65 in agriculture and by 58 in industry.
Thus, the majority of the unemployed belong to the services sector, 39,832, followed by industry (6,113), the group without previous employment (5,405), construction (3,420) and agriculture (2,515).
The number of unemployed foreigners registered in Aragon amounts to 11,901 after falling in March by 153 people compared to the previous month, 1.27%, and by 1,442 people in annual terms, 10.81%. Of the total foreign unemployed, 7,304 come from non-EU countries and 4,597 from EU countries.
More than 35,500 contracts signed
In Aragon, 35,647 contracts were signed in the third month of the year, 5,687 more than the previous month, 18.98% more, although 10,182 less than in March 2022, representing a drop of 22.22%. Of the total contracts signed, 14,675 were permanent and 20,972 temporary.
In March, more contracts were signed in the three Aragonese provinces: 4,366 more in Zaragoza, 19.51% and up to 26,743; 939 more in Huesca (19.17%) up to a total of 5,837 and in Teruel 382 more (14.23%) up to 3,067.
At the end of March, 38,239 people received some type of benefit in Aragon. Of these, 21,424 received a contributory benefit, 15,325 a subsidy and 1,490 an active insertion income.
Spending on unemployment benefits in Aragon amounted to 44.13 million euros, with an average amount of the contributory benefit of 952.7 euros per month.
At the end of last month, 269 workers remained in an ERTE in Aragón (168 men and 101 women): 232 in the province of Zaragoza, 25 in Huesca and 12 in Teruel.
