Logroño, (EFE).- The European Commissioner for Employment and Social Rights, Nicolas Schmit, stated this Friday in Logroño that the new program of the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) for the period 2021-2027 promotes Vocational Training (FP) and, in a special way, it will reinforce the Dual FP.
This was indicated in a press conference, after meeting with the president of the La Rioja Government, Concha Andreu, within a day to this community, in which she also visited the Center for Orientation, Innovation for Employment and Entrepreneurship of La Rioja, developed with community funds.
The Dual FP is a pilot project that the Employment Commission has, which will be reinforced in this new period of the social funds, and which, in addition, will have its place in the fight against youth unemployment, he has indicated.
The commissioner has also ensured that “fighting unemployment, in general, means the need to invest more in people’s skills” and, in particular, in training adapted to acquiring or modifying these skills to focus on the challenges of digitization, It affects all sectors.
In this regard, he highlighted the promotion of VET in the new European Social Fund Plus program for the period 2021-2027 and said that, in this area, “a lot has been done in Spain”.
Schimit, who yesterday, Thursday, participated in an International Vocational Training Congress in Madrid, added that he appreciated the importance of “strengthening and modernizing” Vocational Training, which is applicable to all EU states.
In turn, Schmit and Andreu have agreed on the importance of reinforcing cohesion policy and collaborating in the different demographic challenge programmes.
Both leaders have also discussed in their meeting that La Rioja, as head of the Spanish Delegation in the European Committee of the Regions (CdR), will organize the extraordinary table of the CdR on October 30 and 31, 2023.
