Santander, Mar 24 (EFE).- Cantabria has registered another twenty forest fires caused during this night, of which twelve are still active spread over eight municipalities in the region, whose extinction is being faced with the regional government’s own means.
Of the twenty fires that the General Directorate of the Natural Environment has recorded in twelve hours – from 7:00 p.m. yesterday to 7:00 a.m. today, Friday – three have been declared in Cabuérniga, while the municipalities of Vega de Pas, San Pedro del Romeral and Los Tojos recorded two each.
The rest of the fires are located in the mountains of Miera, Puente Viesgo, Ruente and Los Corrales de Buelna, the Government of Cantabria has reported.
The balance of fires caused so far in March already rises to 180.
According to Medio Natural, although they do not pose a danger to infrastructures or homes, and in fact, it has not been necessary to call for reinforcements, they are fires with an environmental risk.
The last ones that have been recorded are located in spaces with high environmental and landscape value such as the Pasiegos valleys, the Saja Nansa or the Cabuérniga valley.
