Cantabria-Asturias joint project
In the case of the digitization of heritage, he recalled that it is a joint project between Cantabria and Asturias and he is confident that it will be up and running soon.
Cantabria expects to receive ten million euros from the Retech funds for the digitization of the Mupac and the prehistoric caves declared a World Heritage Site in the region.
The general director of Universities, Research and Transfer, Antonio Domínguez, explained that the objective is to digitally preserve the prehistoric heritage of the region “forever”, develop the technology to achieve the “best possible immersive experience” for Cantabrian museums and favor the accessibility to a material that will be offered openly.
“An estimate tells us that we are going to be able to have around 60 SMEs involved in the territories, with different orders of intensity, and that throughout this project we are going to be able to create or maintain around 200 jobs. All this generating an added economic value throughout its duration of between 2.5 and 5 million euros until its conclusion”, he concluded.
