Jaén, (EFE).- The Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogacar (Team UAE Emirates) consolidated his leadership in the 69th Cycling Tour of Andalusia-Ruta del Sol by repeating victory and offering a recital in the second stage held between Diezma (Granada) and Alcalá La Real (Jaén), with a 156 kilometer route and a time of 3:40:10 at the finish line in the La Mota fortress.
Pogacar stars in a spectacular start to the season and has won the three races held in just four days, since on Monday he won the second edition of the Clásica Jaén Paraíso Interior, yesterday in the first one of the Rutal del Sol, with a final in Santiago de la Espada, and this Thursday in Alcalá la Real.
In this way, the Slovenian reinforced his leadership in the general classification by achieving a four-second lead at the finish line over Enric Mas (Movistar) from the Balearic Islands, Santiago Buitrago from Colombia and Mikel Landa from Vitoria, both from Bharein, as well as Carlos from Granada. Rodriguez (Ineos).
The leader of the UAE ranks dominates the race at will supported by a great team and with 25 kilometers to go he launched an attack, passing through the villages of Alcalá la Real, which allowed him to catch up with four runners who had escaped: the Belgian Dylan Teuns (Israel), his teammate Matej Mohoric and the Italian Lorenzo Rota and the German Georg Zimmermann (Intermarché).
Group from 9 to 20 km from the finish line
These were previously in another fugue with the Italian Antonio Nibali (Astana), the Danish Christopher Juul-Jensen (Jayco), the French Axel Laurance (Alpecin), the also Italian Davide Bais (Eolo) and the Frenchman Alan Jousseaume (TotalEnergies).
Pogacar wanted to know first-hand the feelings of his rivals in Andalusia and once he attacked he managed his forces until the group of Mas, Landa, Rodríguez and Buitrago reached him, so a group of nine cyclists was formed to face the last 20 kilometers.
They reached Alcalá la Real together in a final with an endless slope to crown in the fortress of La Mota, where the leader attacked in a spectacular way, although Enric Mas held him and it was not until the last 100 meters when he was left alone to achieve the triumph and reinforce his leadership, now 48 seconds with the Colombian Buitrago and 52 with Landa and Rodríguez.
The third stage of the Andalusian Cycling Tour will take place tomorrow between Alcalá de Guadaíra (Seville) and Alcalá de los Gazules (Cádiz), with a 160-kilometre route and a third-category port, Medina Sidonia, already in the province gaditana EFE
