Oviedo (EFE).- A 68-year-old man died this Monday after falling down a drop of about 50 meters in the town of Abedul, in the council of Belmonte de Miranda, after he left the road on which the SUV he was driving was circulating, reported the Principality’s Emergency Service (SEPA).
The Emergency Coordination Center of 112 Asturias received the notice at 2:13 p.m. that the SUV had fallen due to a large drop in level and sent a team of firefighters to the area as well as the medicalized helicopter and the Rescue Group.
At 3:18 p.m., the rescue team confirmed that there was only one occupant in the vehicle and he was dead in an area that was difficult to access, so they waited at the scene for the corresponding authorization for his rescue and evacuation.
The doctor-rescuer confirmed the death of the driver of the vehicle after, to access both the area of the incident and to rescue the deceased, two crane operations were carried out in which about 30 meters of cable were deployed in each one of them.
On July 15, 2020, a similar accident was recorded in the same area in which two people who were also traveling in an SUV were injured, one of them an octogenarian who died as a result of the accident. EFE
