Granada (EFE).- Kings Felipe and Letizia preside over the central act of Armed Forces Day this Saturday, which is celebrated in Granada, with a parade in which more than 3,100 soldiers, 150 vehicles and 70 planes and helicopters participate.
Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, the Chief of the Defense Staff (Jemad), Admiral Teodoro López Calderón; the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, and the acting mayor of Granada, Francisco Cuenca, in addition to other military and civil authorities, accompany the king and queen in the parade, which will begin at 12:00 noon.
The act will repeat the traditional formula of homage to the flag and to those who died in the act of service, in addition to the parachutist jump carrying the flag of Spain that this year for the first time will be performed by a woman, a corporal of the Air Force Parachute Acrobatic Patrol and of Space.
The air parade will then begin with around 40 planes and around 30 helicopters, which will fly if the weather permits.
At the land stop, the Royal Guard, mounted units and units on foot and specific pace such as those of the legion and regulars, will march along with the motorized units (vehicles, armored vehicles and motorcycles).
The Eagle Patrol will close the parade leaving a trail in the air with the colors of the Spanish flag.
