Gijón (EFE).- The trial between Sporting and coach Abelardo Fernández for his dismissal on January 15 has been suspended at the request of both parties, who will seek “an extrajudicial agreement.”
Sporting and Abelardo were summoned at 9:30 a.m. this Wednesday in the Social Court number 1 of Gijón for a conciliation act in which there was no agreement.
After that, the representatives of the club and the coach had to appear at an oral hearing that was not held at the request of both parties before the decision to continue negotiating an agreement without the need for a trial.
Abelardo Fernández was represented by the lawyer Victoria Galán, while Sporting was represented by the Madrid law firm Uría Menéndez Abogados, the same one that already worked for the Orlegi Group when it bought the shares from the club’s previous owners.
The coach from Gijón was fired on January 15 after a defeat in Santander and had a contract until the end of this season.
From the beginning, the harmony between Abelardo and the new owners was not good and the discrepancies even increased publicly as the season wore on. EFE
