Lorca (Murcia), May 17 (EFE) of the town, as confirmed by the Local Police on their social networks.
The agents have received a call from the Alfonso X school nursery warning that a lynx was wandering through the center courtyard.
The animal, according to the same sources, was in good condition, has been captured and returned to nature.
The regional Ministry of the Environment has also reported on its social networks the urban intrusion of the Tiko lynx and ensures that “it runs through the bush again after being sighted this past dawn in a neighborhood of the city of Lorca.”
The regional government department appreciates the intervention of the Local Police and reminds that in case of sighting of lynxes it is necessary to notify 112.
Tiko and Tahúlla, two of the four Iberian lynxes that arrived in the Region of Murcia on March 2 as part of the Life Lynxconnect project, were released in the northern mountains of Lorca on May 2, culminating their period of adaptation to the natural environment in a closed area.
The two specimens returned to nature, including the one that entered the urban area, are equipped with a collar equipped with global positioning technology (GPS), so their movements can be controlled thanks to the positions sent via satellite, reported the Government of Murcia.
In the days that followed, the Torrealvilla and Tejo lynx were also released and four more are expected to arrive before the end of the month, three of them from Cáceres and the last one from Jaén.
