Oviedo (EFE).- The Civil Guard has arrested a 27-year-old man from Bogotá at the Asturias Airport after finding 34.2 kilos of cocaine in his luggage.
The events occurred on May 13, when agents of the Fiscal Service of the Civil Guard of the Adolfo Suárez Airport in Madrid decided to open a checked suitcase suspected of containing drugs, the armed institute reported this Wednesday.
After unsuccessfully trying to locate its owner and finding out that he had taken another flight to Asturias, the agents opened the suitcase and found inside 15 compact blocks that contained a total of 16.7 kilos of cocaine.
The agents immediately notified the Asturias Airport Fiscal Service, where the agents located the young man with a suitcase inside which another 13 blocks were found with a total of 17.5 kilos of cocaine.
The owner of the luggage was arrested for a crime against public health in the form of drug trafficking and made available to the Avilés Guard Court.
The drug will be delivered to the Drug Laboratory of the functional area of Health and Social Policy of the Government Delegation in Cantabria. EFE
