Logroño, (EFE).- The Secretary of the Interior of the PP, Ana Vázquez, has assured this Monday that in La Rioja 324 places of the Civil Guard staff and another 55 of the National Police are not covered, for which this lack of agents has contributed to the increase in crime in the community.
Vázquez has offered an informative conference in Logroño, together with the national deputy of the Riojan PP, Javier Merino, and the popular candidate for mayor of the Riojan capital, Conrado Escobar.
The popular spokesperson in the Congressional Interior Commission has also advocated “repealing sanchismo” in La Rioja because the Government delegate, Beatriz Arraiz, “has to leave because there is no solution” to the 33 percent increase in the rate of crime, double the national average which was 18.
He has criticized that Arraiz has allowed the disappearance of 20 positions from the catalog of Civil Guard positions and has not launched a special plan against crime.
The robberies with force have risen 42% in La Rioja and 45% in Logroño, “because, in the absence of a police presence, criminals have more time to dedicate themselves to a robbery, instead of thefts.”
On the other hand, it has alluded to the cases of sexist violence as of January 30, with 5,499 crimes reported by 4,894 victims, who are attended by 19 national police and civil guards and 41 local agents, totaling 60 troops dedicated to this collective.
Anti-occupation plan
In relation to housing squats, Vázquez has specified that in La Rioja it has gone from 4 in 2015 to 41 in 2021 and 52 last year.
In this sense, it has proposed an anti-squatting plan to condemn recidivist mafias, evict squatted houses within 24 hours and not register in the municipality people with firm convictions for squatting and who cannot access public aid either.
The PP candidate for Mayor of Logroño has proposed greater coordination between the State security forces and bodies and the Local Police, for which a meeting of the Local Security Board of the capital of La Rioja has been urged.
On the situation of the Local Police, he has promised “an agreement outside the conflict” that this group has maintained for years with the municipal administration.
Prevention with minors
He has promised a greater police deployment through the streets, with the opening of the Villegas police station and a new one in the western area; and work in a “preventive” way with minors, because they are the “new criminal profile”, in coordination with social workers.
Another measure by Escobar is to collaborate with entities such as the Red Cross and the Youth Council to establish service points for victims of situations of sexual assault or threats in the field of nightlife.
To reduce subjective insecurity, it has opted to identify areas of the city with poor lighting and install video surveillance in commercial areas, with a project in the Old Town that could qualify for European funds.
Merino has advanced that his parliamentary group will request the appearance of the Secretary of State for Security, Rafael Pérez Ruiz, tomorrow, and will also register a non-law proposal to request greater police coordination and more troops for the La Rioja community.
