New decree that organizes the second echelon of the Consell
The Consell has also approved the Decree that establishes the basic organic structure of the Presidency and the Departments of the Generalitat to “advance the objective of reducing political spending”, a total of 1.6 million euros per year, almost 6.5 in a legislature, according to Merino.
The Consell spokesperson explained that to the reduction of the Consellerias from twelve to ten and the regional secretariats from 31 to 26, the Decree adds the reduction of general directorates, which go from 85 to 75.
“All of this will mean a reduction of more than 842,000 euros per year, only today, which, added to the 800,000 euros per year reduction in Consellerias, will allow savings of more than 1.6 million per year”, detailed the consellera, who has ensured that the Consell’s plans to reduce spending will continue for the instrumental public sector by merging entities or integrating their services into Consellerias but “without suppressing” their powers.
Merino has assured that “it has been a very calm, leisurely and consensual plenary session” and that “there has been no problem”, despite the fact that the press conference has been delayed for half an hour and has assured that the Consell is “choosing the best” for its structure.
