Madrid (EFE).- The acting President of the Government and leader of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, does not foresee a repetition of the elections after 23J, since during the Federal Executive of the party held this Monday he said that “this democracy will find the formula for governability”, according to sources from Ferraz.
Joy continues to be the dominant note in Ferraz after the general elections on July 23, as could be seen during the meeting of the Executive, in which Sánchez was received by his colleagues with very smiling faces and shouts of “president, president”.
All this despite the fact that the PSOE came in second place, but with two more seats than in the November general elections (up to 122) and with the option to govern if it has the support of Junts per Catalunya, something that the Socialists have not spoken about during the Executive, according to the same sources.
Sánchez commented at the meeting that Spain “has said no to involution and setbacks” on 23J, in reference to PP and Vox, which ultimately do not have a sufficient majority to govern, and has stressed that the PSOE is today “a reference in Europe and in the world” having even managed to exceed the number of total votes and percentages of support received.
The PSOE now wants to put all the focus on the PP so that it “cooks in its own sauce”, according to Ferraz, where the board of directors meets this Monday but the usual subsequent press conference will not be held.
However, the same sources say that “it remains to be seen” if the popular will attempt an investiture.
