Madrid (EFE).- The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has placed herself at the “entire disposal” of the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, after 23J and denies that the leadership of the popular leader is in question, since she assures that she has achieved “great things” in a short time, such as winning the general elections.
Upon arrival at the National Board of Directors of the PP, the party’s largest decision-making body between congresses, Ayuso has acknowledged that he would have wanted “a much better result” for his formation in the general elections, where the popular came in first place but they have very difficult to form a majority that allows Núñez Feijóo to be sworn in as president.
However, Ayuso has advocated “fighting and working” to “seek governability”, since he believes that “one cannot cross one’s arms in the face of adversity”, “throw in the towel and buy the story of losers”, and has made himself “at the entire disposal” of Feijóo, whose leadership denies that it has been questioned.
“I don’t think so. Now it’s time to see the alternative, to see how we manage to create a government. You have to go step by step, what the president of the PP has achieved in such a short time is worth recognizing ”, he assured.
“Blue map” in Spain
“Feijóo has achieved great things: he has won the elections, he has the majority group in Congress, since he is president (of the PP) the map of Spain is practically blue in the municipalities (…) he has an absolute majority in the Senate”, he added.
Ayuso has commented that the post-electoral scenario poses “very complicated moments where there are blockades and where the situation is difficult”, but he has insisted that it is necessary to “live up to Spain and work to try to govern”.
In his case, the possibility of a repetition of the elections is not being considered now, but instead advocates “seeking a stable government within difficulties”, although he comments that if there were new elections the PP candidate “of course it has to be” Feijóo, because he has provided the party with “great stability and is a person who is increasingly loved by the Spanish”.
On the other hand, she has been very critical of the acting President of the Government and leader of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, commenting that “we cannot get used to the fact that a person who loses the elections and who is going to govern with those who clearly hate Spain is normal”.
“It has not happened in a democracy nor do I think it is the best for the Spanish,” he pointed out.
And he has said that no party is “for parties”, but neither is it so that “in just twelve hours we give no one the winner, much less the loser” of the elections, alluding to Sánchez.
Closing of ranks of the barons
Other regional presidents and popular barons have closed ranks around the leader of the PP. This was stated before the meeting of the National Board of Directors.
Both Ayuso and the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juan Manuel Moreno, have referred in the same term to Feijóo’s leadership, and it is that, as they have warned, it is not in question, since he has achieved “great things” in a short time, such as winning the general elections.
That is why Moreno has applauded his management since his arrival fourteen months ago at the national leadership when, as he has remarked, the Popular Party “was evicted in the greatest internal crisis it has experienced in its history.”
The acting president of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, for his part, has indicated that the dispersion of the center-right vote has been key for the PP not to obtain a more solid majority and predicts that if the useful vote of the PP had been more attended to, it would not be in this scenario.
As the president of the PP of Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, has pointed out, “any other alternative” of government to Feijóo would mean “more instability and uncertainty.”
Also the president of the Basque PP, Carlos Iturgaiz, has highlighted the “obvious” result obtained last night by the PP and has once again recalled that it has never been governed before without the candidate for the presidency not having won the elections.
