Santander, (EFE)
And the 377 polling stations of the 102 municipalities of Cantabria are open, as reported by the Government delegate in Cantabria, Ainoa Quiñones.
At 8:45 a.m., 77 percent of the tables were already set up and at 9:10 a.m. the last one was set up, which was one of those in the Cisneros de Santander school.
“There has not been any incident, not even something curious or anecdotal,” assured Quiñones, who has underlined the “perfect operation” that the organization device is having in the region.
The Government delegate thanked the work that the 2,331 members of the tables, the 449 representatives of the Administration and the 27 support staff will be carrying out throughout the day on Sunday.
He also thanked the team of 74 people who work today in the Government Delegation, as well as the more than 1,200 members of the State Security Forces and Corps, the National Police and the Civil Guard, and the local police forces of Cantabria.
Some 508,000 Cantabrians, to vote
Almost 508,000 Cantabrians are called to participate in these elections, for which there are 377 polling stations in Cantabria, which have opened their doors at 9:00 a.m. and will close at 8:00 p.m.
It is an unusual electoral day, with many Spaniards on vacation and a forecast of high temperatures, but which the Government hopes will take place “without any type of incident.”
The State Meteorological Agency foresees an almost general rise in temperatures for this Sunday, although in Cantabria the clouds continue, with minimum temperatures rising and maximum temperatures unchanged.
The main heads of the list -Pedro Sánchez, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, Santiago Abascal and Yolanda Díaz- plan to vote in Madrid, while most of the candidates to obtain the four deputies to Congress and three to the Senate for Cantabria will do so in Santander.
More than 22,000 votes by mail
The trip to the electoral college will be avoided by the more than 2.47 million Spaniards, 22,283 from Cantabria, who have already cast their vote by mail, a historic figure in an election.
According to Correos data, the number of votes admitted is 99% higher than that registered in the general elections of April 2019 and 82% higher than that of June 2016, which held the record until now.
