Alicante, (EFE).- The president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, wanted to wink at Alicante this Friday during the first plenary session of the Consell of this legislature, which was held at the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Alicante (MARQ), where the consellers enjoyed the exhibition of the Warriors of Xi’an for more than half an hour.
After this plenary session, all the ministers -except the head of Water and the Environment, Salomé Pradas, who attended an event in Elche- and Mazón were guided by the director of the MARQ, Manuel Olcina, who explained in a private visit all the details of the legacy of the Qin and Han dynasties, during the 2nd and 3rd centuries BC.
Mazón shows his “personal satisfaction”
Mazón has highlighted his “personal satisfaction” for making this visit, which has also taken place “a few meters” from where he was born, and has stressed that this museum is an “emblematic, loved and worked” place by the Alicante Provincial Council, which he has presided over.
Since this past March, the exhibition has been hosting seven Xi’an Warriors and one of the terracotta horses, in an exhibition that exhibits these famous sculptures for the first time outside of China after the covid pandemic.
‘The Legacy of the Qin and Han Dynasties, China. The Warriors of Xi’an’ is made up of 124 original pieces or sets from nine Chinese museums where the seven soldiers and the horse stand out, although there are many other valuable works.
“Very special” day for the ministers
Thus, there have been several ministers, such as the First Vice President and Minister of Culture and Sports, Vicente Barrera, who have thanked Mazón for this visit, who for his part has insisted that it was a “very special” day for him and that it was something that he “wanted to do”, since it was he, as president of the Provincial Council, who promoted the arrival of the Warriors.
With circular showcases (with 360-degree vision) in the middle of the room, the third and last room of the exhibition is an “immersive” experience for the visitor together with the famous terracotta warriors from the mausoleum of the first emperor and unifier of China’s territory, Qin Shi Huang, found half a century ago in Xi’an.
These modern showcases allow the visitor to walk among the soldiers and see them from a few centimeters away, with adequate lighting that enhances the figures and that has different scents in each of the rooms that house these hundreds of pieces.
The sample will remain in the MARQ for ten months, until next January, as this is the maximum period of time allowed by the Chinese government authorities for the pieces to remain outside their country, in a group that has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1987. EFE
