Vitoria (EFE).- The PP has renounced the presidencies of the Vitoria City Council commissions that had fallen to it, because it considers that the facts have been “misrepresented” that have led to this distribution.
In this new legislature there are 11 information commissions in the Vitoria city council, whose presidency traditionally falls to the opposition groups, as has also happened on this occasion. This position is to organize the debates and does not entail extra remuneration.
EH Bildu and Partido Popular had shared the presidencies (6 for Bildu and 5 for the PP) after joining their votes and those of the municipal group Elkarrekin Podemos, while PSE and PNV -which form the government team- have abstained.
But this distribution has aroused criticism from the PNV spokesperson in the Vitoria City Council, Beatriz Artolazabal, who has assured that “in the first of the opportunities that EH Bildu and the PP have had to negotiate, agree and agree, they have done so”.
The opposition usually presides over the commissions
After learning of this reaction, the spokesperson for the PP in Vitoria, Ainhoa Domaica, has denied that there has been an agreement with EH Bildu and has explained that they have acted as in previous legislatures, that is, distributing the presidencies among the opposition.
In fact, in the last legislature, the presidencies of the Commissions fell to the three parties: PP, Bildu and Elkarrekin Podemos, but on this occasion, when Podemos counts only two councilors (before it had three) it cannot preside over them.
Domaica has said that the criticism received of the distribution is due to the fact that “the PNV and the PSOE are very nervous on the last day of the electoral campaign and are trying to visualize something that is not true”, and has recalled that the votes of the Popular Party have been those that have prevented Bildu -who was the most voted- from governing in Vitoria”, insisted the popular spokesperson.
Thus, given the “misrepresentation of the facts” today, the Popular Party of Vitoria has resigned from the presidencies of the commissions so that the PSOE and PNV preside over them.
Pedro Sánchez sees the “scandalous” cast
Before knowing this resignation, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has described as “scandalous” that the PP and EH Bildu have divided the presidencies of the commissions after the criticism of the popular ones to the parliamentary agreements of the PSOE with the abertzale formation this legislature.
Sánchez, in an interview on Onda Cero, has been ironic when asked about this cast: “But what do you say to me! The Popular Party agreeing with Bildu? That cannot be ”, he pointed out, before asking if an event like this is not opening the news of all the private media in Spain.
In his opinion, this is yet another demonstration of the “hypocrisy” of the Popular Party, which believes that it is making a “contradiction” by making that pact with Bildu on the last day of the general election campaign.
Sánchez believes that this attitude of the PP is serious and has wondered what they would say about the PSOE if they reach an agreement of these characteristics with Bildu on the last day of the campaign.
