Washington (EFE).- The United States imposed this Thursday a new round of sanctions against 120 people and entities that it accuses of supplying ammunition and technology to Russia for the war against Ukraine.
The announcement by the State and Treasury Departments coincides with the naval blockade imposed by Russia in the Black Sea to prevent Ukrainian cereal exports after breaking the agreement in force until now.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement that the new sanctions “will restrict Russia’s access to critical minerals, inhibit its ability to produce energy and limit its use of the international financial system.”
They are also “a crackdown on the accomplices” who are helping Russia to continue its invasion of Ukraine and circumvent international sanctions imposed so far.
“We will continue to support Ukraine for as long as necessary,” stressed the leader of US diplomacy.
The US blockade of those who support Russia
The US Treasury detailed that among those sanctioned are a number of companies from Kyrgyzstan, the United Arab Emirates and Serbia that directly supply electronic equipment to the Russian Defense sector or help it acquire equipment while evading sanctions.
Sanctions were also imposed on a dozen Russian-based electronics suppliers and four Russian manufacturers of ammunition, explosives, projectiles and weapons for the Army.
In addition, several Russian companies dedicated to the aerospace sector were designated, as well as five banking entities to cut off their access to the international financial system.
With this announcement, all the assets and properties of those sanctioned in the United States are blocked and any type of commercial transaction with them is prohibited.
