Madrid (EFE).- World leaders such as the President of Brazil, Ignacio Lula Da Silva, the Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, and the Prime Minister of Portugal, António Costa, have signed a manifesto of support for the President of the Government and PSOE leader, Pedro Sánchez, for the 23J to add “a majority of progress”.
The manifesto, released this Thursday by Ferraz, is also signed by other progressive leaders such as the president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández; the Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen; the mayoress of Paris, Anne Hidalgo; or the Prime Minister of Malta, Robert Abela.
Also former leaders such as the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Gordon Brown, or the former President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, as well as other personalities not directly related to politics, such as the Nicaraguan writer and 2018 Cervantes Prize winner, Sergio Ramírez, or the president of the Sustainable Development Network, Jeffrey Sachs.

In the letter, the signatories express their support for Sánchez’s candidacy for the general elections on July 23 “as the option that can add a majority of progress that gives continuity to the reforms and transformations that have made Spain a world reference in rights, freedoms and prosperity”.
And they express their “concern about the real risk of setback represented by conservative policies.”
“The importance of these elections is unquestionable. The world, and especially Europe, is suffering from an unprecedented wave of conservatism. Deeply reactionary forces feed a rhetoric of tension and delegitimization of the institutions that can have serious consequences for global stability ”, he added.
This manifesto of support for Sánchez joins others in favor of the PSOE and the socialist candidate signed by socialist federations such as Andalusia or Madrid, as well as one of former socialist ministers with signatures such as those of José Bono and Joaquín Almunia.
On the other hand, personalities from the world of work, politics and culture, such as the film director Pedro Almodóvar or the former mayor of Madrid Manuela Carmena, signed a manifesto to encourage the “progressive” vote on 23J.
