València, (EFE).- The First Vice President and Minister of Culture and Sports, Vicente Barrera, lamented this Thursday that his activity, bullfighting, has been “silenced, forgotten and ignored for too many years” and in his management, he said, he will treat “all culture equally, without knowing or thinking where it comes from”.
transfer of portfolios
This has been stated by the high-ranking officer of Vox in the act of transfer of portfolios that was held this Thursday at the Palau de Valeriola and that the former first vice president of the Consell Aitana Mas and the former Minister of Culture Raquel Tamarit have given him symbolically in an act with numerous officials and former public officials with the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, at the helm.
“I come from the world of culture, from the world of art (bullfighting), and my activity has been silenced, forgotten, ignored for too many years, we have been the Cinderella of culture and for many years even persecuted and mistreated by the administration itself, which had the obligation to defend and support us,” Barrera criticized.
The new Minister of Culture has indicated that he will treat “all culture equally, without knowing or thinking about where it comes from.”
Sport will work “from below”
Regarding sport, he has considered that “it is increasingly important” in society and in addition to recovering great events that bring prosperity and image to the Valencian Community, he will work “from below, with the seed of sport” such as the youngest, families, communities, associations and “the future of our sport”, he has pointed out.
For her part, the former Minister of Culture Raquel Tamarit has expressed her gratitude to the entire public cultural sector, to the regional secretariat and to the general directorates of her department, she has asked her successor to “take great care” of the cultural sector and has indicated: “You don’t know how lucky you are to work with all these people”.
The act was attended by the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, the second vice-president of the Council, Susana Camarero, the Minister of Agriculture, José Luis Aguirre, and the president of Les Corts, Llanos Massó.
“Democratic normality” in the transfer of powers
Mazón has highlighted the “democratic normality” of a transfer of powers after the popular will has been manifested, and has affirmed that “there is something that equals us all: the responsibility of wanting to do it well.”
The president also thanked the outgoing councilors Raquel Tamarit and Aitana Mas and the former councilor for Participation and Democratic Quality, Rosa Pérez Garijo -present at the public event-, for their work and dedication in their years in office.
In subsequent statements to the media, Mazón has defended that the world of bullfighting “cannot be a little sister, which has been unfairly during these years.”
The former first vice president of the Consell, Aitana Mas, for her part, also spoke at the event and recalled that, with “a life 200 kilometers away and a 10-month-old son”, she agreed to replace one of the people she “admires the most” and “from whom” she has “learned” the most in her life, in reference to Mónica Oltra.
“Living up to her, and at the moment, has been my great challenge” and “I don’t know if I have achieved it, this is not for me to rule on. I can only say it, that I have done the best that I have known how and could ”, she added, and thanked all of her team for her “dedication and effort ”for accompanying and helping her.
“The Vice Presidency that I have represented – and that Mónica Oltra carried out with firmness and determination for seven years – was that of the defense of life, of non-violence, of the support of families (of all), of the freedom to be and to love”, he added.
She has concluded that it is her “sincere wish, not only as a political representative, but as a citizen of this land, that these principles -that of governing to dignify life, the promotion of rights, a dignified project for all people, respect and love- continue to have the same importance in this new government that is beginning.”
The event was also attended by, among others, the Vox por Valencia candidate for Congress, Carlos Flores, the director of the Museum of Fine Arts in Valencia, Pablo González, the former health councilor with the PP Manuel Llombart and the PP trustee in Les Corts Valencianes, Miguel Barrachina. EFE
