Santa Cruz de Tenerife (EFE).- The spokesman for the Socialist group in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Sebastián Franquis, stated on Wednesday that the Canary Islands Government of CC and PP is “the most expensive” in the forty-year history of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, with two ministries and 25 senior positions more than those held by the previous executive.
“There has not been a minimal explanation that justifies this increase in public office”, which implies a breach of the commitments of the electoral campaign of CC and PP to reduce the cost of public administration, said Sebastián Franquis.
In addition, he has denounced that the first decision of the new executive has been to “reduce taxes for the richest”, due to the announcement to extend the 99 percent bonus of Inheritance Tax to inheritances of more than 300,000 euros, which until now have not they were exempt.
On the other hand, another fiscal measure such as the reduction of the IGIC that the two parties had promised in the electoral campaign and that would benefit all citizens and not only the wealthiest, “they leave it for later or for next year”, has affirmed Sebastián Franquis.
The PSOE spokesman has contrasted that first measure of the Canary Islands Government of CC and PP in favor of “the richest” with the one adopted by the progressive executive in 2019, which was to declare a climate emergency to face “commitments for the future”. of the archipelago.
“This indicates the interests defended by the right of CC and PP, which have nothing to do with those of the Canarian citizens,” he assured.
The representative of the PSOE has also been very surprised by the “ignorance” that, in his opinion, the Vice President of the Government, Manuel Domínguez, has shown, acknowledging that he did not know that from 2024 the European rules for the control of spending would be recovered, deficit and debt.
“That is the knowledge they have of the fiscal and economic reality,” Sebastián Franquis lamented.
The socialist spokesman has also reproached the president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, for not being aware of his position, because instead of leading the issues pending resolution, he has not announced any initiative and only speaks to expose “complaints” and “criticisms”. against the Government of Spain, which is in office.
The PSOE, on the other hand, has already begun to put forward proposals, Franquis has indicated, the first to ask Fernando Clavijo to promote an urgent meeting of regional presidents to discuss the country’s health financing needs, including pharmaceutical spending, an initiative that the Socialists They want to raise the margin of the update of the autonomic financing system.
This initiative is in line with the line of action that the Socialist group has agreed to follow from the opposition, which will be “tough” and critical of executive control, but at the same time with positive proposals in defense of the general interests of the Autonomous Community.
Within the framework of this opposition policy, the PSOE is going to meet with groups to convey to society that there is an alternative to the now constituted government. EFE
