Santander, (EFE).- Racing have signed midfielder Iván Morante, who last season played 32 games in the Second Division with Ibiza.
The footballer has signed a contract that will link him to the Cantabrian entity until June 30, 2024, on loan from the island team.
The new Racing player, Iván Morante, was born in León on January 15, 2001 and started playing soccer in his hometown.
He trained as a footballer in the youth ranks of Villarreal CF -he made his debut with the yellow subsidiary in Second Division B- and Real Madrid, which he joined in 2020, as reported by Racing in a statement.
With the white team, he was proclaimed champion of the UEFA Youth League before playing 38 games, in two courses, with Real Madrid Castilla in the third category of Spanish football.
Morante, who measures 1.83 and weighs 75 kilos, played last season for Unión Deportiva Ibiza (1,610 minutes in 32 LaLiga Hypermotion games).
He has also been international with Spain from the sub-16 to the sub-20 category.
In total, the player from León has played a total of 29 games with the national team shirt.
Third signing of the market
Iván Morante is the third signing of the summer market for Racing, which previously incorporated Lagho Júnior and Ekain Zenitagoia.
Precisely Ekain, who also arrives from Ibiza, has been presented today as a new Racing Santander player.
The Basque footballer has defined himself as “very fighter” and has assured that he arrives in the Cantabrian capital “to give what the coach needs”.
Ekain sees himself as a “very fighting” player, who can act as a striker or second striker, who likes “to be in finishing areas and associate” and who is “very happy” about his arrival at the Verdiblanco club.
Among others, the Biscayan player has valued Santander’s proximity to his land -he is from Durango-.
The club’s sports director, Mikel Martija, explained that the signing of Ekain “has not been easy” because he had other options.
Martija has no doubts that Ekain “will make fans rise from their seats thanks to his goals and his offensive work”.
Ekain Zenitagoia (1994) has played, in addition to Ibiza, for Eibar, Amorebieta, Iurretako and Durango.
