Granada, (EFE).- The Junta de Andalucía will promote the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Alhambra to optimize the flow of visitors and offer augmented reality experiences with which to enrich visits, the Minister of Minister of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification, Antonio Sanz.
It will do so through an “ambitious project” linked to the Artificial Intelligence Retech initiatives with European funds. That the Digital Agency of Andalusia will develop as a “living laboratory” with which to test new technological solutions in a real environment. He has explained to the journalists before participating in Granada in a conference about the challenges of Andalusia in terms of Artificial Intelligence.
With a planned investment of two million euros, it is, according to Sanz, one of the most ambitious AI projects linked to the tourism sector. And it seeks to improve the experience of visitors to the Nasrid monument through the application of this type of technology.
He has given as an example the use of advanced sensors for data collection. In order to have a “reliable and real-time” digital representation. Or the use of simulations to analyze and optimize the flow of visitors.
Artificial Intelligence Retech Projects
The project also aims to improve and enrich the visits offered to tourists, through augmented reality techniques. The possibility of visualizing with your mobile phone a representation of the life that the different rooms and rooms of the Alhambra had. With period furniture and decoration.
The initiative, in which the Granada City Council also collaborates, is part of the Artificial Intelligence Retech projects requested by the Board. That he also wants to carry out others related to digital entrepreneurship and cybersecurity.
The counselor recalled that Andalusia already has the first Andalusian Artificial Intelligence strategy. And that there are already 46 initiatives that are being applied to the fields of health, education and tourism. In addition to agriculture, mobility and port logistics.
He has considered Artificial Intelligence as an “engine of economic development” that “does not come to replace anyone, but to accompany”.
Artificial intelligence and SMEs
The president of the Confederation of Andalusian Entrepreneurs (CEA), Javier González de Lara, also participated in the conference. That he has defended the incorporation of this type of strategy in companies, mainly in Andalusian SMEs. Where a report has already shown that for 90% of them, Artificial Intelligence is a factor of “competitiveness, progress, development and future”.
But at the same time, the level of implementation is still “very low” in small and medium-sized companies, according to González de Lara, who has advocated for alliances between the public and private sectors to seek financing mechanisms and tax incentives.
“I think we have made progress in a few months with considerable certainty and security, but we need more time for SMEs to be able to adhere to this model,” he opined.
Granada, awaiting the appeal on the Aesia
For his part, the rector of the University of Granada, Pedro Mercado, has defended Granada as the capital of Artificial Intelligence due to its scientific potential, which has been seconded by the mayoress, Marifrán Carazo, for whom the Andalusian strategy on the matter will help strengthen and position this city around AI.
Asked about the decision of the Supreme Court to reject the precautionary measures requested by the City Council against the election of A Coruña as the headquarters of the State Agency for the Supervision of Artificial Intelligence (Aesia), Carazo has said that they will now wait for the result of the contentious appeal- administrative procedure filed at the time by agreement of the institutions, and has once again demanded that the central government restart the file.
