León, Jul (EFE).- The associative fabric of Castilla y León has rebounded by 6.6 percent over the last five years, going from 35,445 entities registered in 2018 to 37,816 at the end of 2022, according to the data provided to EFE by the Ministry of the Presidency.
This census, in which it is mandatory to be in order to access subsidies, reflects that León, with 6,111 associations in different municipalities -16 percent of the total- is the province where society has most sought union to fight for common objectives and face their challenges collectively.
More associations in León
Not surprisingly, of the 2,371 new entities registered in recent years, 457, a fifth, are from Leon. In 2018 it had 5,654.
It is closely followed by Valladolid, with 5,932 associations compared to 5,524 in 2018 (408 registrations).
Behind are the provinces of Burgos (5,789 and 5,404, +385); Salamanca (5,194 and 4,950, +244); Palencia (3,244 and 3,079, +165); Zamora (3,203 and 2,986, +217); Segovia (3,197 and 2,986, +211); Ávila (2,707 and 2,558, +149), and Soria (2,439 and 2,304, +135).
Culture gains weight
Considering only the registrations of the last year, 2022, the statistics show that the associations of a cultural nature, 272 of 1,120, 25 percent, are the ones that have the greatest weight, and 58 of them are from Leon.
Behind, and apart from the Miscellaneous and Miscellaneous sections, with a total of 87 and 25, respectively, were the associations of an environmental nature and the defense of animals and plants, with 104 registrations; music and folklore organizations (78); recreational and gastronomic (86), and sports, including clubs (59).
The rest are distributed among youth organizations and social action (humanitarian and voluntary), those of women and those that defend the interests of the sick and disabled, as well as those of professionals, retirees, educational, neighborhood, agricultural and consumer, according to the data provided to EFE by the Ministry of the Presidency.
These data reflect the dynamism and vitality of the associative movement and its important contribution to the growth and well-being of Castilian and Leonese society from the various areas in which these entities carry out their activity. During the last five years only eleven solutions have been reported.
At the regional level
Although most of the associations registered in the last five years are provincial, local or regional in scope, there are some with regional purposes such as ELACyL, a non-profit entity that was born in 2018, promoted by Jesús Gómez Ortega (who died of ALS in August 2019) together with other patients and relatives, to meet the administrative helplessness and the need for collaboration between people who suffered from this ailment.
Or like the Association for the Defense of the Castilla y León Pine, established in 2021 to contribute to the organization and structuring of the sector by promoting the development of joint activities, publicizing the problems it faces, identifying the causes of the reduction in the yield of the production of pineapples and pine nuts, seek and propose solutions to pests, and value the virtues of the regional pine nut.
Recently, the Castilla y León Television Association was born to promote plurality of information and bring information to all corners of the community, promoting the resources and values that characterize it.
