Works in three points
For this reason, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, through the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Fine Arts, has been involved since mid-March in these three areas of the wall, with an investment of almost 330,000 euros.
The emergency works in the Rastro area are about to end,” the Government of Spain reported on Monday.

practically finished
These works are “practically complete, awaiting small auctions”, since the damaged merlons are already “completely consolidated and reconstructed”, thus advancing the initially planned deadlines by around a month.
However, in mid-June, access to the rampart of the Ávila wall from the Arco del Alcázar, in that area, was opened again, after remaining closed since May 22, as a result of these emergency works.
The second of the three planned actions consists of the consolidation works on the eastern canvas between cubes 82 and 83, the execution of which is also well advanced.
collapse risk
For the moment, the consolidation of the wall below the ground level has already been carried out and, currently, work is being done on the volumetric recovery of the part that had suffered deformations and threatened to collapse.
.
According to the Ministry of Culture, after the consolidation of the interior of the wall, the outer sheet of the canvas is being reconstructed with previously disassembled materials and with some pieces from municipal warehouses.
The third intervention is located in the nearby cubes 83 and 84, in the Puerta del Alcázar, where works are being carried out to consolidate the vault, by which the soluble salts are being extracted from the stone, before proceeding with the consolidation. of the affected parties.
In this case, the works are scheduled to end next August, once the humidity problems that cause caleña stone falls in said arch have been solved.
In addition, in all three locations work has been done on the parapet of the wall to improve waterproofing and evacuation of rainwater. EFE
