Miami (EFE) the presidential elections on November 5.
Jeff Kaufmann, chairman of the Iowa Conservatives, made the announcement Saturday via Twitter.
The nation’s states choose their candidates through caucuses, in which local party leaders hold group meetings to discuss who to vote for, or through primaries, in which voters choose from a list of candidates consigned on a ballot.
Kaufmann pointed out that both the Iowa legislature and the executive branch “got ahead” of the plans of the Democrats in that state, who wanted to change the traditional “Caucus” system to one of primaries.
Several states are already thinking about the presidential election
The state of Iowa has traditionally been first on the electoral calendar, followed by New Hampshire.
The Democrats, for their part, have chosen to make South Carolina the first date in their primary election process, on February 3.
New Hampshire law requires its primary to be “first in the nation,” and technically it will be, since the system used in Iowa is caucus.
Trump starts favorite with DeSantis on the prowl
In this way, the Republican candidates who have officially presented themselves so far, more than a dozen, have a little more than six months to consolidate their campaigns.
At the moment, the polls continue to favor former President Donald Trump (2017-2021), who has a series of legal proceedings against him that could hinder, but not prevent, his path to the presidency.
Among others, he is facing a criminal lawsuit in Florida for the mishandling of confidential documents after finishing his term.
The former president is followed in the polls by his political godson, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, with whom he has now distanced himself.
