Logroño, (EFE) decisions that demand and demand immediacy”.
Escobar, who achieved an absolute majority in the elections on May 28, made these statements at the plenary session of the Logroño City Council, during the debate on a motion of the Popular Group, the first of this legislature, to “promote the design and signature of the ‘Pacts with Ñ’”, which has had the votes in favor of the PP, Vox and PR+ and against the PSOE and Podemos-IU.
This motion refers to the promotion of the design and signing, prior dialogue and participation, of five programmatic and government agreements: the revision of the Municipal General Plan (PGM), infrastructures and undergrounding; communications; equality, coexistence and local Police; economic boost; and neighborhoods.
“The pacts that we bring -Escobar has indicated- beyond the fact that the impulse is for everyone, they are a collective project, in which that scenario in which we are all comfortable is intended. We are going to have time to find differences, but meeting points beyond the dialectical differences are guessed, ”he specified.
He explained that “the question of the neighborhoods is a recurring aspect on the part of everyone” and he has proposed “begin to put it more concretely, in that desire to work together”, given that “there is space for the meeting and, as mayor, it will to be one of the questions that will form an axis of the political question because it can be more united than divided”.
PROVISION TO AGREE
The spokesman for the Socialist Group and mayor in the last legislature, Pablo Hermoso de Mendoza, thanked the current municipal government for “the willingness they show when trying to reach agreements between the PSOE and the PP”, but the vote against the Socialists was due to “the form and the substance”, since he has missed “an initial courtesy meeting” with the municipal groups.
He has pointed out that “if the PSOE is characterized by something, it is by the pacts it makes when it governs and when it is in opposition, and it will agree throughout this year and the next” in the Logroño City Council.
For her part, the Vox spokesperson, María Jiménez, has shown her “thankfulness” for this proposal in the form of a motion, but “this gratitude is not going to translate into our opinion or proposals not being taken into account”; and she has considered “not necessary” that one of the pacts include the term “equality”.
The councilor for Podemos-IU, Amaia Castro, has pointed out that “this is not a motion because it does not urge anyone to start anything. It is more of a declaration of intent, but this plenary session is not a press room and this text is not a press release”.
In his speech, the councilor for PR+España Vaciada, Rubén Antoñanzas, indicated that he wants to trust that, “in that absolute majority that they have given to the mayor of Logroño, Conrado Escobar, he believes in consensus, in participation and in that the big issues of the city are agreed upon and that implies giving in on many occasions”.
