Madrid, Jul 5 (EFE).- The second heat wave of this summer could leave maximum temperatures of up to 44 degrees at the end of this week, especially in the east, center and south of the peninsula, and also very hot nights, where the thermometers will oscillate between 21 and 24 degrees.
As of this Sunday and during the first days of next week “it cannot be ruled out that the thresholds of intensity, extension and duration necessary to be able to talk about the second heat wave of this summer will be exceeded”, the spokesperson has advanced. from Aemet, Rubén del Campo.
This Wednesday, the most notable will be the possibility of strong storms in the Pyrenees and in the Iberian system and the intense heat in the south of the peninsula, with maximums that will be around 38 to 40 degrees in the Guadalquivir valley, while tomorrow stormy showers will develop in Navarra, La Rioja, Aragon and Catalonia.
These stormy showers could be very strong, persistent and be accompanied by hail in Aragon and nearby areas, as well as isolated storms in the rest of the mountainous areas of the eastern interior, center of the peninsula and in the south.
As of Friday the atmosphere will stabilize
As of Friday, a tendency to stabilization of the atmosphere is expected, but there may still be storms in the north of Navarra and the Aragonese Pyrenees and in a more dispersed way in points in the interior of the peninsula, especially in mountainous environments.
In the rest of Spain, little cloudiness with some haze in the south and temperatures that will begin to rise, especially in the north of the peninsula, where, for example, it will exceed 32 degrees in the eastern Cantabrian Sea, 35 degrees in the center and south and 38 degrees in the Guadalquivir valley.
Over the weekend, the weather will be more stable with some light rains in Galicia and parts of the Cantabrian Sea and with rising temperatures: on Saturday they will do so especially in the east and south and on Sunday the rise will be “widespread and could continue” .
Del Campo has indicated that on Monday “the heat could pick up again, with especially high temperatures in the east, center and south of the peninsula and also in the Balearic Islands”, where it will exceed 35 degrees in a general way, 38 degrees in central areas and southern half and punctually in Mallorca, and 40 degrees in the Guadalquivir.
With “uncertainty”, these very high temperatures could continue during the following days, without ruling out that the intensity, extension and duration thresholds necessary to be able to speak of the second heat wave of this summer may be exceeded, it has concluded.
