The draw for this phase, held this Wednesday at the headquarters of the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol), in the Paraguayan city of Luque, also set a true duel of titans, between the Argentine Boca Juniors -the second most winning team in this contest- and the Uruguayan National.
Likewise, the confrontation between the Brazilians Atlético Mineiro and Palmeiras, teams that between them have four cups in their showcases, draws attention.
In the round of 16, the current champion, the Brazilian Flamengo, will face the Paraguayan Olimpia, who has won this competition three times and who, along with Internacional de Porto Alegre, remains undefeated in this edition.
For their part, the Colombians Atlético Nacional and Deportivo Pereira will clash against the Argentine Racing and the Ecuadorian Independiente del Valle, respectively.
In this phase, in which 16 teams face each other, the first legs will take place from August 1 to 3.
The return commitments will be played in the second week of August (from 8 to 10), as established by Conmebol.
The final, scheduled for November 4, will be held at the Maracana stadium, in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro.
