Pamplona (EFE).- The UEFA Appeals Committee has decided to leave Osasuna out of the 2023-2024 Conference League. This has been reported by the Navarrese club, which has announced that it will resort to the TAS because it understands that it is “a serious violation of their rights.”
According to Osasuna, the members of the UEFA Appeals Committee “have not taken into account the allegations presented by the entity last Friday. They have reaffirmed the initial opinion of the inspectors of the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Committee”.
The reasons why the Appeals Committee has decided to exclude Osasuna will be transferred to the entity in the coming days. However, today Osasuna emphasizes that “it does not share UEFA’s criteria or the investigation of the case carried out at all and regrets the wrong message that UEFA sends to the world of football punishing those who denounce corruption and prosecute it in court.”
And he concludes that “Club Atlético Osasuna will continue to deploy all the legal instruments at its disposal to stand up to UEFA and put an end to what it considers a serious violation of its rights.”
Braulio: “It makes you want to leave everything”
Osasuna’s sports director, Braulio Vázquez, has been forceful about the UEFA sanction that excludes his team from participating in the Conference League, stating that he does not believe “in anything, I don’t care what they tell me, the term justice I don’t know what it is here.”
“It makes you want to leave everything, football, directly. I have doubts about everything. In the end we are an example for everyone. There are people here who bet their assets for this club to survive. You report yourself to the police and they punish you, it’s a double punishment, a bit surreal”, Vázquez pointed out after the presentation of José Arnaiz as a new player.
Regarding UEFA’s decision to exclude the team from the next Conference League, Vázquez highlighted the damage “at the image level” they are suffering: “It is incalculable. Credibility takes a long time to gain, it’s easy to lose. They’re not doing a lot of damage, but a lot.”
“It is a previous management, the new managers are coming and we are an example for the majority of Spanish football. They set an example for us in England, the United States, we are going to give presentations on the Osasuna model and, suddenly, after achieving the maximum, they take it away from you ”, she forcefully asserted.
“I thought it was a joke, fake news. We have earned it on the field, I don’t think there is any doubt. We are an example of management and I don’t even know what is going to happen, but I am totally detached from any decision”, he concluded with some resignation.
