Oviedo (EFE).- The National Police has arrested a 41-year-old man in Gijón for harassing nine minors between the ages of 9 and 17 through social networks, whom he psychologically manipulated to convince them to send him images of content sexual.
As reported by the National Police on Monday, the arrested man posed as a minor on social networks to gain the trust of his victims.
The investigations began after a complaint filed by a mother in the Cadiz town of Algeciras in which she reported that her 12-year-old daughter had been manipulated by an individual who had convinced her to send him degrading sexual images of herself.
Two days later, another mother filed another similar complaint in Castellón, warning that another 12-year-old girl had been convinced to send sexual images of herself and her nine-year-old sister.
The investigators verified that the detainee began his strategy by posing as a minor and later, as he managed to subjugate the girls, he recognized “an age and a situation closer to reality” with the intention of establishing future physical contact with them. they.
As detailed by the Police, in his manipulation he included very profane orders and comments that his victims were forced to follow.
Convicted of sexual assault
The investigation focused on the technical data obtained from their social network profiles that allowed the author to be identified, a 41-year-old man residing in Gijón, married with one child.
The arrested man had been sentenced to a two-year prison sentence, a sentence that was suspended from execution, for sexually assaulting a minor under 14 years of age with whom he contacted in the gardens of his urbanization when he was with his son.
In the search of the two addresses that he occupied in the same block of flats, the agents found a large amount of computer material whose analysis yielded sufficient evidence that he was the author of the denounced facts.
After analyzing the intervened material, it was found that he harassed six other minors between the ages of 12 and 17.
The National Police have insisted that minors must be supervised while browsing the Internet and that it is convenient that they do not have their mobile phones or other means of connection while they are in their rooms alone. EFE
