Verstappen, 25, signed his forty-second victory in F1, his seventh so far this year, by winning again with great authority -setting the fastest lap on the last lap-, ahead of Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari ) and the other Red Bull, that of the Mexican Sergio Pérez; who starred in the comeback of the day, starting fifteenth and finishing third.
The Spaniards Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) finished fourth and sixth, respectively. The Englishman Lando Norris (McLaren), between them, finished the race in fifth position.
Verstappen, who signed his fifth victory in a row, now leads the championship with 229 points, 81 more than ‘Checo’ and with one hundred over the Asturian double world champion, who is third overall.
The two Mercedes drivers, the English Lewis Hamilton -seventime world champion- and George Russell, finished seventh and eighth, respectively.
The Frenchman Pierre Gasly (Alpine) finished ninth this Sunday at the Red Bull Ring, where Alonso’s teammate, the Canadian Lance Stroll, scored the last point at stake by finishing tenth.
The next test, the British Grand Prix, will be held next weekend at the Silverstone circuit (England).

The Mexican Sergio Pérez (Red Bull), who starred in the comeback of the day, starting fifteenth and finishing third in the Austrian Grand Prix, the ninth in the Formula One World Cup, declared this Sunday at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, that he is “ very happy” with this result, “after a very difficult weekend for me, because I also had a fever”.
“It has been a great comeback, a fantastic strategy and throughout the race I had a great pace,” said the brave driver from Guadalajara, with six victories in F1 and who this Sunday signed his thirty-first podium in the premier class, after surpassing in the final stretch of the test, after an arduous battle, to the Spanish Carlos Sainz (Ferrari), who finished fourth.
“It was a very tough fight, but fair. It is always a pleasure to fight with them”, explained the Mexican, who this Sunday put an end to a losing streak that had lasted throughout the three previous races: lasa in Monaco, Spain and Canada.
