Reinosa (EFE) “realism” and thinking “in the key of the region”.
In an interview with EFE in an office that he has not yet accommodated or made “his own”, he explains the axes of his policy for Reinosa in the next four years, in which he proposes a change of organization in the councils so that they are “more shared”, not so fragmented and there is better communication.
The Reinosano government will go from nine to seven councilors and the PP-PRC pact will be reissued, although this time the regionalist José Miguel López Barrio, councilor from 2003 to 2007 and from 2009 to 2023, will not be present and the popular ones are now a majority.
López Vielba advances that some councilors will continue working in the same areas “but others are going to take others” and the challenge of being “a group of government” is set instead of “of being two groups governing.”
An improvement in the municipal organization will help, it affects, so that the Corporation can focus its time on the “strategic” objectives of the municipality, and not on “putting out fires” from day to day.
A REALISTIC GOVERNMENT
The mayor of Reinosa is committed to a pragmatic and realistic municipality in the treatment of the great problems of Reinosa, which, he admits, “has challenges and does not advance like other cities” and that shows itself “as it is”.
For this reason, he believes that setting the goal of gaining population “is a lost cause” and believes that if someone plans to reach 12,000 or 13,000 inhabitants in a legislature “they will not achieve it.”
“We don’t have the solution and in many cases we don’t even have the competition,” blurts out the mayor, who believes that “you have to be realistic about the tools you have and the skills you have.”
Using these tools, however, he asks “not to settle” and “put in the means” so that companies “come and stay” and be vindicative with the Government of Cantabria and the national one.
In this sense, it advances that it will ask the Executive headed by María José Saénz de Buruaga to buy, if it cannot be transferred, to the state land company (Sepes) the industrial land of the La Vega industrial estate, an operation that amounts to 2.5 millions of euros.
Also for the local industry to be maintained, like Sidenor, where he admits, he only has the news that is disclosed in the media but also that the Consistory can “puncture those who can decide.”
LOOK AT FIELD
Another of those tools, he explains, is “relying on what’s around”, a point in which he asks “to get your batteries together and start thinking in terms of the region”, because Reinosa provides services to the rest of the municipalities but also benefits from factors such as regional tourism.
López Vielba considers that if a company is installed in Campoo, “that is the good news”, beyond the fact that it can be located in a municipality that is not Reinosa, because “employment is for the region and the Reinosa commerce serves all the Shire”.
The councilor undertakes to prepare a study to find out “the best formula for collaboration between the municipalities of the region”, a space in which “everyone” has to see “that they win something” and that could take the form of a commonwealth.
In this sense, he believes that “it has to help” that seven of the eleven municipalities of Campoo are going to be led by the PP, although he insists that “the eleven will have to enter.” “Let’s get down to work,” he guarantees.
HAND OUTSTANDING TO THE OPPOSITION
The PP and the PRC govern Reinosa again, although the party with the most votes in the 28-M elections was the PSOE, with which López Vielba admits that he has not had “much dialogue.”
“It was not easy to reach an agreement,” acknowledges the Campurriano mayor, who points out that “he would be closer to the PSOE if he were more loyal to what we talked about,” although he extends his hand to contribute ideas to the Consistory.
To do this, he promises to be “fair” and not “attribute proposals” if they are good and are developed by the municipal government team. “There is work for everyone, here there is no one left over”, he points out.
In fact, the mayor has offered the councilor of the left-wing Reinosa en Común (REC) formation, Victoria Callejo, the possibility of having a delegated area, an offer that could have been made with Vox, he admits, but that has not been made. offered to the PSOE for this lack of dialogue.
