Formentera, Jul 1 (EFE) event.
The Plaza de Europa in es Pujols on the Mediterranean island has been the scene of the parade organized by the Consell de Formentera, which was held this Friday night in front of more than 600 people, and has displayed a succession of innovative and artisan collections, perfectly set with music and decoration, and worn with style and delicacy by the models from the Pitiusa agency Deva Models.
To the recycling of textiles, the use of organic materials, the creation of unique pieces, the capsule collections and the “slow fashion” fashion that characterize fashion made in Formentera, this time the values of inclusivity and diversity have been added, which have inspired the concept of this edition “Tonalitats (tones), represented in the parade by young people, diversely skilled boys and girls from the Diver Gent association.
The teacher and member of the Diver Gent Association, Rebeca Lloret, in charge of explaining the project on the catwalk, has detailed in statements to EFE that the objective is “to be able to make visible” the work that the association does to accompany “all the families in the development of diversely skilled people and achieving job placement”.
Lloret has considered it a “pride” that the “capabilities and talent of each person” are valued and has remarked that, precisely, Formentera “is an island of tonalities where all diversity is included”. He has also highlighted all the support that the association is receiving and has insisted on the importance of “achieving a truly inclusive Formentera”.
On the catwalk, each creator has presented six models of clothing, jewelry or footwear, which in most cases have been specially designed to be worn in this showcase that marks the beginning of summer in this paradisiacal corner of the Mediterranean.
This is also the case of the designer Bárbara Roversi, from the firm Equilibre Formentera, who during the winter looks for “stock” fabrics from other firms, including haute couture, and reuses them to create her skirts, dresses and accessories.
“This year I have presented two garments in white linen, a bit Adlib, another two garments with recycled denim, one with a very colorful satin, street style, and two silk garments, a bit night”, explained the designer, who He has been participating in the catwalk for six years, and he assures that it is a show that “has more magic every year.”
The jeweler Ur Calvet also designs an exclusive collection for each catwalk, with jewels created based on the oxidation of metals with which he manages to impregnate the turquoise and blue colors inspired by the sea that surrounds Formentera.
This year’s motto, “Tonalitats”, adapts to the philosophy that she always seeks to convey with her jewels: “I wanted to show and claim, especially this year when everything is changing in society, that jewelery is a product that does not go towards a specific sex, towards a gender, and that gender is not important in jewelry”, Calvet remarked.
With a decade of experience on the catwalk, but as a 25-year career in the world of fashion, the designer Ivonne Ruiz, Kavra de Formentera, has also paraded with her collection “full of color, joy, movement, elegance and naturalness ”. “It is a collection very inspired by what Formentera is, actually, in freedom”, the creator highlighted.
Dresses made with recycled sheets, tablecloths and curtains by Fabiana Schulz, from Coser y Cantar; the delicate silks impregnated with plants and flowers from the island, with which Simona Colzi creates unique kimonos and dresses; the sensual bikinis of Hippie Shop Formentera, the lingerie of Marziposa Lingerie, and the organic fabrics turned into casual fashion by Jesús Costa, among the twenty collections that the minor Pitiusa has been able to show off on this night dedicated to fashion. The Formentera Catwalk celebrated its first fifteen years this Friday, finding the formula to be a special and creative event that, on a small scale, like the island itself, seeks to convey the beauty of unique, handcrafted pieces, framed in sustainable and conscious fashion. , which every year adds and transmits values.
