Madrid (EFE) temperatures starting tomorrow Saturday.
Although on Friday they will drop clearly, “and we will have a truce with respect to the heat of the last days”, on Saturday and Sunday the temperatures will rise to values ”somewhat lower than normal in the north and somewhat higher than normal in the south”, according to the spokesman for the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), Rubén del Campo.
Thus, while in the Guadiana and Guadalquivir valleys the mercury will be around 38/40°C in the early afternoon, in the Cantabrian communities the maximum will be between 24 and 27°C.
Looking ahead to the first week of July, Aemet expects that until Thursday it will pass “without major changes in the weather” and a “typically summery atmosphere” will prevail, the meteorologist pointed out.
Contrast between north and south
In the Bay of Biscay, there will be cloudy skies, without ruling out light rain in the area, while in the rest of Spain the skies will generally look slightly cloudy.
In general, the temperatures will move within the normal values for the season, although they may be a little higher than usual in the center and south of the peninsula.
Thus, the maximum will move between 22/27 degrees in the Cantabrian communities; 30/34 degrees in the northeast of the peninsula; 32/36 degrees in the central area and between 34/38 degrees in large areas of the southern half, although in the Guadiana and Guadalquivir valleys they can reach 40°C.
On the shores of the Mediterranean, a key point for “sun and beach” holiday tourism in Spain, maximum temperatures of between 28 and 32 degrees will be reached.
During those first days, the precipitations will not be very abundant, although there will continue to be the possibility of clouds of diurnal evolution with scattered stormy showers in the interior, more likely in the east of the peninsula and which locally could be strong, especially in mountain areas and their surroundings. .
“It is possible that the temperatures rise in the face of the last days of the week”, although we will have to wait to be able to confirm it, Del Campo added.
In the Canary Islands, another of the tourist enclaves of Spain, during the weekend and the first days of next week, the regime of trade winds will predominate, which will blow intensely in some points and will drag clouds to the north of the islands of greater relief .
The temperatures will be mild, with minimums that will be around 20/22 degrees in coastal areas and maximums that will oscillate between 26 and 28 degrees.
July, warmer than usual
As for the entire month, the forecasts suggest that July will probably be a warmer month than usual, Del Campo has advanced, who, however, has recalled the “uncertainty to which these types of predictions are subject” .
“The most probable scenario is that of a month of July with temperatures above normal throughout the month in most of Spain, especially in the southern half,” he pointed out.
Rainfall “seems that in general it will behave as it usually does in the month of July”, which means that it will be “rather scarce throughout the territory”, with the possibility of storms forming inland on some days, especially in mountainous environments.
