Toledo (EFE).- The Courts of Castilla-La Mancha have hung the rainbow flag on its main façade on Wednesday to celebrate International LGTBI Pride Day.
The president-elect of the autonomous community, Emiliano García-Page, has shown his support for the group through social networks.
From the window of the office of the Presidency of the Cortes of Castilla-La Mancha hangs for another year the multicolored flag.
The president of the regional parliament, Pablo Bellido, has released a video on social networks in which he shows his support for the group.
Bellido recalled that in 2022 the regional courts unanimously approved the Law on Sexual Diversity and LGTBI Rights.
In addition, he has shown his commitment to freedom and the rights of all and against discrimination.
Also, through Twitter, the regional president has assured that “today and every day” he is proud that “Castilla-La Mancha is a diverse region. A land committed to equality, rights and, above all, freedom”.
“Because loving freely is a right. Without prejudice or discrimination”, García-Page concluded.
The mayor of Toledo yields to Vox and there will be no LGTBI flag
The mayor of Toledo, Carlos Velázquez, has said that it is “obvious” that he has not been able to reach the “agreement” that he intended to hang the rainbow flag with his government partner, Vox.
“It is evident that we did not achieve that agreement or that great consensus that I wanted,” Velázquez has admitted about the fact that this year the multicolored flag has not been placed on the balconies of the City Hall.
Albacete does join LGTBI Pride, but without Vox
The Albacete City Council, in which the PP governs in a minority, has celebrated Pride Day with an institutional act with the absence of the four Vox councilors and with the support of the PSOE and the councilor of Unidas Podemos.
In front of a banner with the colors of the rainbow, the mayor of Albacete, Manuel Serrano, has shown his “total and absolute rejection of any type of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.”
And he has assured that “we defend the right to full equality.”
On the occasion of International Pride Day, the buildings of the Consistory, as well as those of the Municipal Museum and the Cutlery Museum, will be illuminated with the colors that commemorate this day
The rainbow does not shine this year in the City of Ciudad Real
The rainbow flag has not been displayed this year, for the first time in many, on the facade of the Ciudad Real City Hall.
In this way, the government agreement signed between PP and Vox for the governance of the consistory has become effective.
This contemplated compliance with the Flag Law, which means not being able to hang any other flag than the official ones.
The mayor of Ciudad Real, Francisco Cañizares, has assured that he has not seen any LGTBI flag in any organization or institution in Ciudad Real.
Cañizares has played down this importance and has assured that he, as mayor, has participated in all the events organized by the LGTBI community.EFE
