Madrid/Oviedo (EFE).- The average retirement pension in Asturias stood at 1,640.75 euros in June, 138.2 euros more than a year ago (+9.2%) and the second highest amount among the autonomous communities after the Basque Country, according to data published this Tuesday by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations.
The retirement pension, which 184,676 people receive in the community, is 19.3 percent higher than the national average, which amounted to 1,374.88 euros.
The average pension in Asturias – including those for retirement, widowhood, orphanhood, permanent disability and in favor of family members – amounted to 1,399.96 euros, 9.42 percent more than a year ago.
The average Asturian pension, which is 17.2 percent higher than the average for Spain (1,194.85 euros), is also the second highest among the autonomous communities, only behind the Basque Country.
The total number of pensions in Asturias rose to 299,546 in June, 0.06 percent less than a year ago.
By type of pension in Asturias, in addition to retirement, widowhood stood at an average of 974.77 euros, with 78,129 beneficiaries, and orphanage, at 579.55 euros, with 8,762 beneficiaries.
The permanent disability pension, which in Asturias has 26,028 beneficiaries, was 1,277.62 euros, and that of family members, with 1,951 pensioners, 951.24 euros.
A payroll of almost 12,000 million
The payroll of contributory pensions has increased in June by 10.76% compared to the same month of 2022, up to 11,997.2 million euros, equivalent to 11.7% of GDP.
In June, 10,040,732 contributory pensions were accredited to more than 9 million pensioners and almost three quarters of the spending was allocated to retirement pensions with 8,740.3 million euros, 72.9% of the total.
The system’s average pension, which includes retirement, permanent disability, widowhood, orphanhood and in favor of family members, has increased by 9.6% year-on-year, up to 1,194.9 euros per month.
The amount of extra pay paid in June has reached 11,694.9 million last year, 11% more than in 2022.
Regarding widow’s pensions, 2,002.2 million euros have been paid, benefits for permanent disability have risen to 1,059.8 million, those for orphans to 163.4 million and pensions in favor of family members to 31, 6 millions.
The average retirement pension, received by 6.2 million people, has been 1,374.9 euros per month, that of the general regime has reached 1,532.7 euros per month, while the lowest continues to be that of the self-employed, who have received an average pension of 915.6 euros per month.
The ministry has also detailed that as of June 1, 518,183 pensioners have received the gender gap supplement, whose average monthly amount has been 65.8 euros, 91.4% collected by women (473,550). EFE
