Santa Cruz de Tenerife (EFE).- The socialist Pedro Martín has announced his resignation from the position of president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, as soon as he takes possession of it, with the intention of favoring an “ordered transfer of powers”, in view of the agreement between CC and PP to present a motion of censure against them.
With this movement, it is necessary to call a new plenary session, which will be held next Monday, to settle the presidency of the insular corporation, which until then will hold office.
Pedro Martín has offered his disposition and that of his party to “collaborate in this process of change of powers” and to transfer to the CC and PP all the information they need and to hold the necessary meetings.
And with that “desire”, he has announced his resignation from the presidency of the Cabildo because “Tenerife cannot be stopped. Long live Tenerife ”, he has proclaimed.
With this announcement, he closed his speech, in which he reviewed the management of the insular government in the last four years and assessed the tourist figures, and like the rest of the spokespersons, he thanked the support received at the polls, in the case of the PSOE, the most voted party in Tenerife.
Before, Rosa Dávila, from CC, had made a speech in a presidential tone in which she proposed to “restore” Tenerife’s “illusion and faith”, and infect the public with a “winning spirit” and “confidence in ourselves”.
Dávila stressed that the people of Tenerife have expressed their desire at the polls for “a government with a majority that guarantees stability and strength. That is what they have voted for and what they are going to have”.
“The island demands great agreements, broad consensus, work and solutions”, Dávila also said, adding that CC reaches out to those parties that share this same vision and that the people of Tenerife “expect a lot from us . We are not going to fail them ”, he has proclaimed.
Lope Afonso, of the PP, has emphasized, for his part, the need to “understand the message” that the people of Tenerife launched in the 28M elections.
The PP counselor has proclaimed that “Tenerife deserves an island government committed to its problems and needs” and that the institution “recover its backbone role and synonymous with security, hope, certainty and cordiality”, and be, “finally , the council of the town halls”.
Ana Salazar, from Vox, thanked the support of “28,000 voters full of courage and hope” despite the “information blackout” and the “denomination” of which her formation is subjected.
He assured that the Vox advisers in the Cabildo de Tenerife will be “useful, effective” and will be committed to the needs of the people, the first of which is “the defense of children, women and the elderly”, and in general , “of all the victims, regardless of their sex”.
He has also alluded to the defense of Canarian families so that they can give “the education they want to their children”, and has offered “respect and dialogue” to the rest of the formations, “thinking about the well-being of Tenerife”.
The session has lasted longer than expected, since due to a protocol error, the councilors had to be called a second time, one by one, to be awarded the medals that accredit their condition.
Before, they swore or promised to fulfill their obligations and to uphold and enforce the Constitution, and in some cases the Statute of the Canary Islands.
The socialist Nauzet Gugliotta has also done so “with special attention to the laws that protect women and the diversity of this land.” EFE
