New York/Rio de Janeiro (EFE).- The Brazilian singer Anitta released the video clip for her new single “Funk Rave”, a song where she shows the world “her Brazilian funk roots”.
“Brazilian funk is my roots. It’s what I was born and raised with. It’s my home. I made this new music with the intention of showing everyone those roots”, says the artist.
Two hours after the publication of the video clip on the YouTube platform, the sensual video already had more than 135,000 views, still far from the 546 million views that he obtained in his video for “Envolver” that he released last year.
On this single Larissa de Macedo Machado, who is better known by her stage name Anitta, sings in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
This is his first release under his new contract with Republic Records in association with Universal Music Latin Entertainment.
Anitta seeks to return to her origins
Anitta, one of the most internationally renowned Latin artists, stated that on her next album she intends to return to her origins as a funk carioca singer, with the intention of internationalizing this urban rhythm born in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro.
In a press conference that she gave to celebrate the launch on the platforms of the video of the first song of what will be her next album, the Brazilian queen of pop affirmed that she decided to bet again on funk, the rhythm with which she began her career, to promote it internationally.
The singer clarified that her intention is not to produce a funk that can be well regarded abroad, but rather to promote internationally a genre that is characterized by its outstanding and danceable percussion, of clear African origin, and its sensual dances.
“It’s not export funk. What I am doing is what we used to do but sung in English and Spanish,” she stated.
He added that funk already has a space in international music and that artists from other countries also want to interpret “Brazilian funk”.
“We are going to see several American rappers and artists doing funk. Let’s turn it into something like reggaeton. I am absolutely certain,” he said.
The release of “Funk Rave”
His intention was made clear in “Funk Rave”, a song released on the platforms on Thursday, the video of which debuted with force this Friday on YouTube and of which Anitta had already given a preview in the presentation she made in the final of the League of European Champions.
This is the first single from her sixth studio album, which will follow “Versions of Me” (2022) and will therefore be the singer’s first with her new record company, Republic Records, after forcing the termination of her contract with Warner.
Although she did not anticipate the release date of the new album, the Brazilian said that almost everything is ready.
“The whole album is ready. We actually have to choose between about 40 wonderful ready songs. We are in the phase of selecting what goes into the album”, he stated.
She added that she also has seven video clips of the new album ready and announced that all the songs have the traces of carioca funk, “some have more of the funk melody style” that she did at the beginning of her career and others, a heavier style.
The video for “Funk Rave” was recorded in a favela in Rio de Janeiro and shows their daily life, such as a soccer game on a dirt and dusty field; the neighbors sharing a barbecue and singing samba; men without shirts and women with short clothes, and even a tattoo artist working in the middle of the street.
