Oviedo (EFE).- The general secretary of the CCOO, Unai Sordo, has considered this Friday that in the general elections of July 23 “the party is yet to be elucidated” and has said not to take “for granted” that there will be a change of political cycle.
“I do not know what is going to happen. It is not clear to me that there will be a victory for the right and the extreme right in Spain”, he pointed out in statements to journalists before closing in Oviedo a conference on the extreme right and trade unionism in Europe organized by CCOO.
The union leader has indicated that he “sincerely” believes that if the PSOE “continues to hold out as it has held up in the municipal elections” and Yolanda Díaz’s Sumar project “consolidates” in the next elections “the party is yet to decide.”
“I would not take for granted what the next Government of Spain will be,” he pointed out in this regard.
Legislature agreements are “well tied”
In any case, he stressed that the agreements reached this legislature with the social agents “are tied and well tied” and are guaranteed by their “results” and have the “complicity” of the European Commission, in addition to having been a “condition for the release of European recovery funds”.
“Whoever governs will have a very difficult time explaining that it is reversing a labor reform that has halved temporary employment and that has been compatible with having 21 million people contributing to Social Security,” he added.
“Clarity” of the parties on the reforms
Sordo has asked the parties for “clarity” about their position on these reforms and has addressed the PP to ask if they want to recover a contract for works and services that “was previously a widespread abusive and fraudulent use in our country.”
He has also questioned whether those who have opposed the rise in the Minimum Interprofessional Wage, after the elections, will bet on lowering it. EFE
