The schedule of the primaries, the letter states, “remains unchanged, since June 24 is a holiday and on Monday, June 26, as expected, the list of admitted candidacies will be announced.”
Likewise, as explained by the president of the CNP, Jesús María Casal, the fact that four candidates will register tomorrow, the largest number in a single day, motivated the unanimous decision of the commission to extend the deadline for applications by 24 hours, the which opened on the 5th.
“The decision does not harm anyone (…) We are not responding to pressure nor is there favoritism towards any political candidacy here,” the lawyer told reporters after reiterating that the measure “responds to the CNP’s own analysis”, in search of ” favor participation and the orderly completion of applications”.
