Barcelona (EFE).- Agents of the Economic and Fiscal Crimes Unit (UDEF) of the National Police are searching the City Council of Sitges (Barcelona), in the framework of an operation for alleged corruption in the awarding of subsidies in which it is investigated the mayoress, Aurora Carbonell, from ERC.
According to legal sources, the case is open for the crimes of prevarication, embezzlement and documentary falsification, and is directed against 13 people: Carbonell, 8 councilors of the city council and 4 individuals from social cooperatives that are beneficiaries of the subsidies.
Specifically, alleged irregularities in the awarding of subsidies to entities of the Third Sector Roundtable and to a community cooperative between 2017 and 2020 are being investigated.
