Madrid (EFE) the far right.
During the presentation of the Pride week activities, the president of the State Federation of Lesbians, Gays, Trans, Bisexuals, Intersex and more (FELGTBI+), Uge Sangil, stressed that the LGTBI collective “will vote with Pride” on 23J because “rights are conquered, celebrated and defended”.
Sangil has accused the PP of “being accomplices of the extreme right” for the pacts that it has reached with Vox in city councils and autonomous communities, and has warned that the group “will not allow our laws to be repealed”, in reference to the Statements by the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijoó, who a few weeks ago assured that if he came to Moncloa he would withdraw the trans law.
“We are not going back in the closet”
“It is time to defend ourselves on the street and at the polls,” encouraged Sangil, who asserted that “we are not going back to the closet” because “our lives are at stake.”
The director of the LGTBI+ Collective of Madrid (COGAM), Roni de la Cruz, has also asked those present “to be aware when we put ballots in the ballot boxes of those who are next to us”, since “rights are conquered, but they are not engraved in stone”.
Along these lines, De la Cruz has expressed his intention to “improve the relationship” with the Madrid City Council and has asked Almeida to meet with the LGTBI+ groups, since last year it was not possible.
“We hope that in this legislature he can now that he is released from certain hands that perhaps prevented him from doing so,” he pointed out in reference to the absolute majority obtained by Almeida on 28M.
“Hate speech is spreading”
For his part, Juan Carlos Alonso, general coordinator of Madrid MADO Pride, has demanded from institutional representatives and political parties that everyone can count on them and has shown his “commitment and solidarity” with LGTBI+ people around the world. .
“Hate speech is spreading”, lamented Alonso, for whom “it is more necessary than ever to reinforce and emphasize the values of Pride”.
