London, Jun 20 (EFE).- Chelsea signed French striker Christopher Nkunku on Tuesday, from RB Leipzig, for 52 million pounds (60 million euros).
The French forward is the first signing of Chelsea under the mandate of Mauricio Pochettino, the new coach of the ‘Blues’ for the 2023-2024 season.
Nkunku, 25, comes from scoring 16 goals in 25 Bundesliga games, where he has spent the last four seasons.
“I am incredibly happy to have arrived at Chelsea. It has been a great effort from the club to bring me here and I am looking forward to meeting my new coach, my teammates and showing the fans what I can do on the pitch”.
“After having played in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, now I want to play in the Premier League, one of the strongest leagues in the world. I am very excited about this challenge and I am very proud to wear the Chelsea shirt”.
Nkunku began his professional career at Paris Saint Germain, where he made 78 first-team appearances and won three French leagues and two French Cups, before moving to Leipzig in 2019.
In Germany, he was named the best player in the Bundesliga in the 2021-2022 season, when he scored 35 goals in all competitions and won the German Cup.
