This has been announced in a letter to the militancy that he has shared on his social networks, in which he has considered that this is “a difficult but necessary decision” after Podem was left without representation in Les Corts Valencianes after the elections.
“Three years ago today you elected me as regional coordinator of Podem País Valencià and, with successes and errors, we have managed to build a party with clear political positions and a program, for which I want to thank all the regional leadership, the structures of the inter-regions, the municipal spokesmen, the circles and the militants for the immense work carried out”, Lima indicated in the letter.
In her opinion, Podem’s political project “today closes a cycle, but it is still more necessary than ever” and she has ensured that both she and the rest of the council are leaving “with the satisfaction of leaving an organized party.”
“And with this we give way to a technical team whose fundamental mission will be to organize an assembly to reformulate the political project,” he explained.
Lima “deeply regrets the defeat” of 28M
Lima has said that he “deeply regrets the defeat of 28M”, municipal and regional elections in which his formation has obtained “bad results, without palliatives”.
“In addition to multiple causes, ranging from our own mistakes to being immersed in a new reactionary cycle at a European level, it is also evident that the conflict dynamics that have occurred in our political space have damaged our electoral base,” he acknowledged.
For Pilar Lima, these results “occur in a negative context for the left throughout the country”: “We have lost five regional governments in which United We Can participate and also the last three councils of change that emerged eight years ago now: Valencia , Barcelona and Cadiz”.
“The demobilization caused by the conflict was decisive and these results will foreseeably have as a consequence policies of regression and cuts in public services that will harm the social majority,” he warned.
Now, “serene and rigorous reflection”
This context, he said, “requires a process of serene and rigorous reflection on the causes that have brought us here and the prospects for the future”, an analysis that “must take place in the only suitable forum for it, which is a citizen assembly , giving voice to all the registered men and women of Podem”.
Likewise, Lima has considered that “next 23J there will be decisive general elections for the future of the country, in which the end of the progressive coalition governments and the access of the extreme right to the central government are at stake.”
“That is why it was essential that there be a single list to the left of the PSOE, and the agreement reached between Podemos and Sumar goes in this direction,” he indicated in the statement.
However, it has concluded that they would like the Valencian Podem organization to be represented in it”: “It has not been like that and we deeply regret it.”
