València (EFE) who will speak with the rest of the groups to give institutional stability to the City Council.
“This city cannot afford political trouble and it has to get to work now,” said Catalá, who aspires to govern in a minority, during an informative breakfast of the Encuentros Ser organized by Radio Valencia and El País.
Catalá: “I already have my government, which are my 13 councilors”
Asked if she rejects a stable government pact with the four Vox councilors, she replied: “I already have my government, which is my thirteen councilors, and now I am going to try to talk to all the groups and see in what political scenario each one is. one”, alluding to Compromís, PSPV and Vox.
Catalá recalled that in the previous legislature, specific city agreements were reached and the PP supported proposals such as the request for the European green capital or actions in the context of the covid-19 pandemic, and she did not “drop the rings ”.
“I think that due to the tone adopted by almost all the groups last Saturday -during the investiture plenary session- I can aspire to also propose city agreements”, he added.
Regarding the statements last Saturday in plenary session by Vox councilor Juan Manuel Badenas, who warned him that a minority government “cannot be said to be a moral government but an amoral one”, he considered that “mixing the moral with the political and legal is a real mistake.”
Rejection of gender violence
Catalá has reiterated its rejection of gender violence and has warned that “lessons in terms of gender violence, none.”
“I have a mother, a sister and a 2-year-old daughter; To think that I am tolerant of gender violence is absurd. Only the feeling of maternal protection makes you reject and fight any type of violence against women ”, she has affirmed.
He added that the PP has “always rejected gender violence” and has defended that “the greatest advances in the fight against violence against women have been promoted by the PP and the greatest political consensus against this social scourge has been adopted the big parties, the PP and the PSOE”.
“Lessons, none”, he stated, while adding that “nobody has the slightest doubt that the government of the Generalitat, the Valencia City Council and all popular governments are going to combat this scourge emphatically ”.
More personnel in the register, Local Police and tenders
He has also said that one of the main measures that he will promote in the first hundred days of government will be to reinforce the personnel in the register, the Local Police and in the licences.
Catalá has indicated that there is a treasury surplus of 300 million euros that “has to be put into circulation”, and has announced that it will unify the activity and construction licenses in the same department, as well as a shock plan in terms of cleaning .
In terms of mobility, he has said that the bike lanes will be “redesigned” on the avenues of the Constitution, Primado Reig and Pérez Galdós, and he has defended the pedestrianization of the large squares “but not the ugly”.
The new city government, he added, will not finance the so-called Cabalgata de las Reinas Magas because “it has no tradition in the city” and there are “other economic priorities” in Valencia, such as markets and centers for the elderly.
Lastly, asked about whether a term of office is set, she stated that she does not see twenty years of mayoress. “I don’t know if it would be healthy. I believe a lot in political alternation and I am very prepared for whatever comes ”, she concluded.
