La Laguna (Tenerife), (EFE) punctual among the other groups except the two Vox councilors.
The mayor made these statements to the journalists once the constitution session of the Corporation ended, in which he was elected by a simple majority with the support of his ten councillors.
Gutiérrez has announced, when asked if there will be a government agreement with other political forces, that on Monday he will proceed to distribute areas among the members of his municipal group.
For the rest, he said he had his hand outstretched to seek support “that requires this broad consensus” for which he stated that citizens can rest easy “because we are going to work for and for their benefit.”
“For now, what there is is a minority government and from there we will work with the rest of the formations that are willing” to reach agreements except with Vox “because they are at the antipodes of our thinking and our differences are insurmountable,” he said. .
Rodríguez, as he stated in his speech, showed his “astonishment and perplexity” at the interventions in the session by the spokespersons for United Sí Podemos, Rubens Alonso and Drago Verdes, Alberto Rodríguez, in which they criticized the lack of will of the PSOE to close government agreements.
“I think it was not the most appropriate time and place to raise particular issues,” said the mayor, who has assured that his party during the negotiations has been “totally respectful.”
He announced that contacts would continue with both left formations “and later we will see if there are new chapters always thinking about consensus, not about interference or impositions. But today we are only in favor of this broad agreement and a minority government that is going to start working from now on”.
The spokesman for Drago Verdes, Alberto Rodríguez, criticized the lack of will of the Socialists to reach an agreement and said that the decision to govern in a minority will lead to a “difficult, slow and ineffective” management whose consequences will be paid by the residents.
He believes that if the alternative is to govern with the Canary Islands Coalition (CC), “then the Laguneros who have opted for a left-wing government have been deceived and cheated.” He ended his speech by adding that they have an outstretched hand “if the strategy they have designed does not quite work”.
For his part, Rubens Ascanio, from USP, expressed his disappointment at a plenary session in which he expected another scenario to unfold, such as the repetition of the previous left-wing pact in which he participated “but here fear has been stronger and has been frustrated the hope of thousands of neighbors”.
The USP leader confessed his perplexity at the lack of explanation offered by his former partners and defended that his position has been to reissue the agreement, without imposing red lines, contrary to what was stated by the PSOE, which he accused of “intoxicating and lying in the media.
He stated that he continues with an open hand to form a new government and pointed out that the fact that La Laguna becomes “a gala village” due to having a new majority different from that of the rest of the Canary Islands, “should not worry them”.
During the inauguration session, the councilors of USP, Drago and the councilor of CC, Patricia Negrón, chose the formula, with various variations, of swearing fidelity to the King, “by legal imperative given our republican conviction and loyalty to the Statute of Autonomy over of the Constitution”. In fact, at the time of taking the oath, he put his hand on the Statute that was placed on the Magna Carta.EFE
