Huesca (EFE).- Lorena Orduna (PP) has assumed the mayoralty of Huesca with the votes of her formation after ruling out from the beginning the possibility of a government pact with Vox, a formation that will be decisive throughout the legislature as it lacks the popular ones with an absolute majority.
In the plenary session of constitution of the new Huesca corporation, Orduna has been elected with the twelve votes of her group, while the ten elected councilors of the PSOE have voted for Silvia Salazar, who assumed the leadership of her formation after the resignation of the former mayor, Luis Felipe, to be part of the consistory, and the three from Vox to their head of the municipal list, Antonio Laborda.
Voting has been carried out in secret, although on this occasion there have been no surprises, such as in the plenary session of constitution of the outgoing corporation, in which a blank vote gave the mayoralty to the socialist Luis Felipe.
The plenary session was attended by political and institutional leaders of the province, among others the leader of the Aragonese PP and candidate for the presidency of Aragon, Jorge Azcón, and the head of the list for the Congress of the formation for the province of Huesca, Ana Alós, whose Initial support for Orduna favored his irruption in the electoral list of the popular ones to the Huesca City Council as head of the list.
Dialogue, collaboration and meeting
After assuming command of the corporation, the new mayoress has expressed her gratitude to both Azcón and Alós for the support received, although she has also recognized the work carried out by her predecessor in office, the socialist Luis Felipe, especially during the pandemic.
Conscious of starting a legislature in a simple majority, Orduna has offered “dialogue, collaboration and meeting” when looking for “solutions” to improve the quality of life in the Aragonese capital.
“Each one (of the groups) has a different political vision, but I am sure that we all share the same aspirations to improve the city”, added the mayoress, who has assumed as her own the motto that politics is “the art to reach agreements in search of the common good”.
He has also expressed his “absolute confidence” in the members of his government team to develop a “people-focused project”, but also aimed at protecting the most vulnerable groups, improving urban mobility in favor of a city ” healthy” and favor growth opportunities”.
